Assessments

A psychological assessment is an independent examination by a psychologist and is aimed at understanding a client’s current mental health functioning, mental health diagnosis, prognosis and provide treatment recommendations.

At Sarvin Sabet Psychological Services we provide a comprehensive and detailed assessment of the client’s accident-related difficulties. We ensure that the clients are presented with a thorough and accurate report that reflects their current functioning and limitations and recommend individualized treatments and referrals for rehabilitation that is in the best interest of their overall wellbeing.

Independent third-party psychological assessment is offered to employers, lawyers and regulating bodies that are seeking independent opinions about the client’s pain related symptoms, cognitive and emotional concerns resulting from the MVA and its effects on client’s daily functioning and occupational tasks and duties. We explore somatic injury, vehicular phobia and trauma, mood concerns, impairments in occupational and daily functioning, interpersonal relationships, and barriers to resuming normal life routines. This evaluation includes providing med-legal psych assessment, immigration psych evaluation, rebuttal reports, psych-vocational assessment, and medical file reviews.

Treatments

We provide compassionate psychological treatment for people seeking help with depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. Our team is highly trained and skilled in evidence based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Progress Therapy (CPT), Harm Reduction, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Creating a learning culture has been an essential component of our practice, where the team is encouraged to update their skills regularly and continuously learn new and innovate treatment modalities that will benefit our clients.

Numerous research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. In many studies, CBT has been demonstrated to be as effective as, or more effective than, other forms of psychological therapy or psychiatric medications.

DBT focuses on high-risk patients with concurrent diagnosis. Dialectical behaviour therapy or DBT is based on CBT, with greater focus on emotional and social aspects. DBT was developed to help people cope with extreme or unstable emotions and harmful behaviours. DBT is an evidence-based approach to help people regulate emotions. It started as a treatment for borderline personality disorder, and current research shows it may help with many different mental health disorders or concerns. DBT focuses on accepting oneself regardless of challenges.

Trauma Focused Therapy is based on creating a physically and emotionally safe environment, establishing trust and boundaries, supporting autonomy and choice, creating collaborative relationships and participation opportunities and using a strengths and empowerment-focused perspective to promote resilience.
